Top 5 reasons why Spain failed in the World cup

At this point of the world cup, we already know we are getting a new world champion in Brazil. Before you ask why, lemme tell you. Because Spain, the reigning world and European champions are already out of the tournament with even a game in hand, thanks to Netherlands and Chile. To be honest, no one expected Spain to lose it this easily. I mean they've been on top of the world football for 6 full years. But why? Why'd they lose it this easily? I have a list of my top five reasons why Spain have faced a shocking early exit from this year's edition of the FIFA world cup in Brazil.

1. Over success.

As I said earlier, Spain has been on top of world football for 6 full years during which they've won the European championship back to back in 2008 & 2012, and the prestigious World cup in 2010 in South Africa. In addition to that, almost all Spanish players are winners at club level. You don't win two National European trophies, The world cup, European champions league & club trophies back to back and then want more! I guess Spanish players felt like they've won it all so didn't play with much victory hunger.

2. The absence of the Octopus.
Think about it! That round fish predicted every game that Spain played at the previous tournament. I'm not sure whether it was eaten or just died, but I think its absence is costing Spain. They had nothing to foretell their future. Lol.

3. Team selection.

Apart from Diego Costa, Spain has played with almost the same squard the last 6 years. From Iker Casillas whose goal keeping form has been depreciating on a level faster than Usain Bolt..lol..to Xavi whose age is catching up to him, Torres whose scoring rate has also depreciated terribly, to Gerald Pique, who's having too much fun with his Colombian boo Shakira and tight marking her, so he forgot tight marking opponents, Hehehe..
Vicente DelBosque should have introduced a breath of fresh players with more victory hunger, like Atletico's mid field maestro Jorge Koke, Real Madrid's Illara, and more playing time to Santi Carzolla, he had two wonderful seasons with Arsenal. I guess it's also high time they realised that Iker Casillas need be dropped!

4. Predictable play and lack of Plan B.

If you ask a ten year old what he'd expect to see while Spain is playing, he'd say that they're going to pass the ball, then pass the ball, and then pass the ball till they score. Spain's game plan got so predictable. As I said earlier, they've played with the same squard, doing the same thing. Spain has a beautiful game plan to the eyes of the spectators, difficult to the opponents, well atleast till the world cup, and it was a winning game plan. So the opponents mastered it, for example Netherlands played a high pressure game never allowing Spain to pass. Then they got frustrated because their magic wasn't working out, and lost concentration, and they seemed to lack a plan B. The results, you all know.

5. The Barcelona effect.

We'al know most players that dictate Spain's play are from Barcelona. And we also know Barcelona had a terrible season this year. Talk about Xavi who's meant to hold that ball and hide it from the opponents, till when he makes that killer pass to any teammates in the right position. Talk about Iniesta who has an incredible dribble(seen that? Haha) easily getting opponents off to either shoot, or assist. And then Carles Puyol, whose partnership with lover boy Pique was soo good to break through. But he was missing! And their season at Barcelona wasn't that good so it followed them to the national team.

All in all, Spain has been at the peak of world football for quite too long. So when you reach the top, where else do go?? You guessed right. Down baby.. Down.
