Ok now I’ve seen a lot of people posting things like, “Did
you know you can fly from London to New York without posting it on Facebook and
you land safely?”, “Did you know that you can eat a full dish of chicken wings
without sharing food pics on social media?”, and all that crap they say. Yes.
We know. But do you also know that it is never your business? If you did not
know, now you know.
Friends, do not let nobody tell you what you can, and what
you cannot celebrate. Celebrate everything. Celebrate being on a plane to
somewhere. Share those pics from when you on the airport, in the terminal, on
the stairs and when you are seated inside the plane. After all not everybody
gets on a plane.
Celebrate getting a job after searching for so long. If
possible, share pics of your contract. Yes, you can also celebrate a job
promotion. It do not matter which job it is. As long as it does not break the
law, and it puts food on your table, celebrate it man. Take pics in office, or
in the field or anywhere. Share them on social media with the caption, “Talk to
me later, I’m at work right now.” You can even tag me. I will like, or
double-tap it.
Celebrate getting a healthy bouncing baby. Many women die in
labour, a lot of them get miscarriages, others have had numerous failed
attempts at conceiving. But you got that baby. Celebrate. Take lots of pics,
you gotta keep those memories, share
them on social media, even when some babies look nothing but just potatoes (lol...
sorry), and be thankful to God.
Yes, celebrate getting into a relationship. In a world where
hate is almost the order of the day, love should be celebrated. Share those
cute pics with your boo or bae or baeboo (these days it’s acceptable). We will
be happy for you and wish you the very best.
My friends in the arts, drama and sciences, celebrate
getting that role you auditioned for, celebrate getting signed to a record
label, and releasing your first record after working so hard to get studio
time. My friends in the modelling business, celebrate finally being published
in a magazine, or on a billboard, or first catwalk on a runway, after starving
yourself and doing numerous exercises to get that perfect body. If you earned
it, it is worth celebrating. In addition, celebrations should be made public,
so that others can get inspired to pursue the same, or do better.
Celebrate after finally getting that car, whether it is a
monster machine that turns heads wherever you pass, or just a little thing on
four tyres, it is yours, and you earned it. Celebrate it because you will not
have to go through the excruciating feeling of sitting next to a person that
smells as if they have not showered in a lifetime, on a Monday morning. You
will just drive yourself to wherever.
And if your life is like mine, boring, with nothing big
going on in your life to celebrate, except just sitting in front of a laptop to
write stuff like this, celebrate life. Celebrate just being alive. Life is too
short not to celebrate what you have achieved.
